Mobile device use is expected to surpass desktop this year, and it's no shocker.
Nearly everywhere you go, you are likely to see someone with a smartphone or tablet in-hand, scrolling, searching, typing, watching and listening. Americans love their devices and take them wherever they go. In fact, studies show as many as 66% of adults suffer some type of 'separation anxiety' when they are away from their smartphones, and nearly 60% of adults don't go beyond an hour without checking their phone. That said, if your website, blog or online ads are not mobile friendly, you’ll miss a whopping 6 out of 10 of consumers who socialize, search and shop while on the go.
Video is dominating social media. YouTube alone reaches more 18-49 year old's during prime-time than the top ten shows on TV. Video is taking over every major social media & digital platform as it continues to get easier to capture, edit, upload and share.

Lastly, influencers have built-in trust, and give you instant reach among their multiple digital & offline platforms. Notable celebrities, radio personalities & athletes typically have large followings on facebook, twitter & instagram. Because they already have affinity among their core fans, their endorsement of your business acts similar to old-school 'word of mouth' advertising, because the trust is already established. In a major market, for example, a well known radio personality might reach hundreds of thousands of listeners every week during their broadcast, and additionally have a complimentary social media following in the tens of thousands as well. Businesses have a ton of success using this approach because it allows them to connect to their target customers wherever they are: in the office, at home, or in the car listening to the radio, or online everywhere they go, directly thru their endorser.
A great example of an excellent cross-platform influencer is Veronica Alfaro, of the legendary country radio station, 99.5 QYK in Tampa, Florida. For nearly two decades, hundreds of thousands of country music fans have tuned in every morning to laugh, sing and even cry with Veronica as she interviews the biggest names in country music, dishes on the latest celebrity gossip and shares her own life story. Fans tune in every morning because they've developed an affinity not only for the terrific music the station features, but because of Veronica. They have a connection with her. She has established their trust, and is like an old friend. Veronica can be prominently seen at many of the largest events & vast array of concerts in the community, on local TV broadcasts, and has a strong local following of people across her social media platforms. When a brand associates with an influencer like Veronica, they've got a supremely active member of the community working for them, that the community knows and trusts.
So what does all this mean? It means that if you own a business you need to make sure your website is mobile friendly. It means that you need to develop a plan to use video in a way that makes sense for your prospects and your brand. And lastly, it means that if you can find an influencer to champion your brand across multiple mediums, you'll have a much better chance of winning.
Great marketing that makes you money doesn’t happen by accident, it takes a plan and consistency. Do you need help with your marketing plan? Are you ready to use mobile, video and influencers in 2017 to set your company apart from your competitors, but don't know where to start? I'd be glad to help.
