According to small business experts, the top digital marketing trends for 2017 include mobile, video, and using influencers to brand and promote businesses.

Mobile device use is expected to surpass desktop this year, and it's no shocker.

Nearly everywhere you go, you are likely to see someone with a smartphone or tablet in-hand, scrolling, searching, typing, watching and listening. Americans love their devices and take them wherever they go. In fact, studies show as many as 66% of adults suffer some type of 'separation anxiety' when they are away from their smartphones, and nearly 60% of adults don't go beyond an hour without checking their phone. That said, if your website, blog or online ads are not mobile friendly, you’ll miss a whopping 6 out of 10 of consumers who socialize, search and shop while on the go.

Lastly, influencers have built-in trust, and give you instant reach among their multiple digital & offline platforms. Notable celebrities, radio personalities & athletes typically have large followings on facebook, twitter & instagram. Because they already have affinity among their core fans, their endorsement of your business acts similar to old-school 'word of mouth' advertising, because the trust is already established. In a major market, for example, a well known radio personality might reach hundreds of thousands of listeners every week during their broadcast, and additionally have a complimentary social media following in the tens of thousands as well. Businesses have a ton of success using this approach because it allows them to connect to their target customers wherever they are: in the office, at home, or in the car listening to the radio, or online everywhere they go, directly thru their endorser.
